When I decided to blog the journey of starting a men's grooming and personal care company I figured things would be going at a slightly faster pace, but without enough cash flow to inject straight back into the business things have moved a bit slower than expected.
That said, the business plan is done and the branding visuals are also complete. The next move is to pitch some minor investors and hope they see the potential upside in the space and the value of the brand's vision.
We are also exploring other avenues to get additional funding to help cover start-up costs.
It's just a matter of time before we get our products into your hands - for now, all we can do is trust the process and be patient.
On top of all that, our current recipes are being refined to ensure we introduce premium products into the market. We are also scouting local labs for larger production runs.
With all the red-tape, we are still super excited as things are progressing - even if slightly slower than we thought.

Building a business isn't easy—it takes time, loads of research and patience.
To help ensure our success in the grooming and personal care space, we've split our time between R&D and branding, a strong combination of which we believe is essential for the future of West Island Co.
While we have been experimenting with beard oils and beard balms we also teamed up with a design team that has a style and feel that matches the aesthetic we are going after for West Island and the results have been fantastic thus far.
Currently, we are polishing up our business plan and getting ready to pitch to potential partners who believe in what we are doing and want to be part of something special.
By the end of the month, we are hoping to reveal our brand identity to the men's lifestyle community, then hopefully by year-end announce some of our new products.
