The easiest men's skincare routine ever
Healthy good looking skin starts with two things: a simple skincare routine and your diet.
Even the most basic routine will prove to be a game changer in the long-run.
For now we'll pass on the Instagram face mask routines, all good fun, but a bit much on the daily.
Let's keep it simple, and ease our way into a solid routine.
A good rule of thumb, if you didn't already know, is to cleanse and moisturize daily. All it takes is 5 minutes in the morning to work on your skin and another 5 at night, and that's already an awesome start.
Adopting this two-step routine is huge and will make a difference in keeping your skin looking fresh and healthy for as long as possible.
Face Cleanser
You'll need to find a gentle face cleanser that works for your skin. We recommend to test a few, preferably organic based cleansers to help prevent any unwanted reactions or irritations.
Using a cleanser will help prevent clogged pores and breakouts. First wash your face with warm water to help open up your pores, then gently apply and rub your cleanser in circular motions to remove dirt, grime and any other impurities that have accumulated on your skin. Afterwards give your face a good rinse with cool water then pat dry.
Face Moisturizer
The next step is to use a dime-size amount of a moisturizing cream. Apply it to your entire face (cheeks, nose and forehead!) this will help retain moisture throughout the day keep your skin feeling good and prevent dryness. A moisturizer also acts as barrier protecting your skin from environmental pollutants.
Additional Recommended Steps
Sunscreen
Every person regardless of skin color should be using a sunscreen regularly, it's your ultimate protector and will help your skin maintain its health and prevent sun damage and wrinkles.
And I mean everyone! There's this believe that people of color don't need sunscreen but that's completely false. Darker shades of skin do have added protection with higher ratios of melanin, but you are still vulnerable just like everybody else, so lotion up fam. Your skin and its appearance will be better off—100 percent.
Exfoliate
Once you are used to the two-step routine then go all in and start to exfoliate at least 1 time a week. It's a little more work, but exfoliating is highly recommended by dermatologists. It's said that exfoliating 1-2 times a week is essential to removing dead skin and keeping healthy skin on the surface. If you are serious about your face care then this a necessary step. Pick one day during the week and stick with it.
Combine this with your cleanser and moisturizer and expect to have healthier looking skin for the long haul. Trust!
