Men's grooming: The difference between all-natural and organic and what you need to know
There's a movement happening in the men's grooming space and its all-natural and organic.
Over the last several years, the men's grooming and men's care space has grown and continues to grow with creative independent brands offering a refreshed look challenging the bigger brands in the space.
With increased access to indie alternatives, one thing to remember when using any product is that everyone responds differently to certain ingredients. We recommend that you do your own research, test and find what works best for your skin type and daily lifestyle.
All-natural or organic, what's the difference?
Now that's the question.
There's a lot of confusion when it comes to all-natural and organic labelling.
Simply put, 'all-natural' products use ingredients sourced from plants such as aloe, shea tree, mango, and other essential based oils. These natural ingredients are often infused in hair and skincare products because they bring a ton of natural benefits even if they're not technically organic.
Organic labeled products on the other hand take it to the next level.
These products composed of natural ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and or ionizing radiation hence the higher price tag and cleaner product positioning.
Across the industry organic products are heavily regulated for integrity and accuracy and overall come with a higher degree of trustworthiness.
When it comes to 'all-natural' label claims the regulation is not as clear and not monitored in North America to the extent as its organic counterparts.
It's not to say that all natural labeled products are untrustworthy they just require a bit more attention and diligence so read the fine print and do research on the brand.
From our experience, and from what we hear from the majority of the hair and beard care community, all-natural grooming products free from certain parabens and synthetic ingredients (ex: silicone, sulphates) have a number of benefits and widely recognized as a healthier cleaner way of maintaining your hair and promoting a fuller beard.
We do want to underline the fact that everyone reacts differently from certain ingredients, so testing before liberally applying any new product is recommended.
Whether you use organic, all-natural or combination of both, there are a lot of reputable brands out there that have good practices and produce fantastic grooming and personal care products.
We say, find the brands you click with and stick with them.
