If you didn't already know, SKIN IS IN!
And for the guys out there ignoring their basic skincare requirements for some machismo reason, STOP IT. When your skin is good, you feel good...and your confidence, well–it shines.
According to the skincare gods, to moisturize is to prevent premature skin aging and dryness.
Healthy clear skin not only increases your confidence, it also boosts your daily swag. And considering the options available, maintaining a daily routine has never been easier.
For the most basic routine, start off with a daily face cleanser and quality moisturizer.
But there are levels to this, just know these two essentials when used regularly, will help maintain younger clearer healthier skin for the long-run.
That said, we are going to keep it super simple.
A good moisturizer does three things: it hydrates, it protects and it renews.
Let's break each one down.
Since we do prefer a cleaner ingredient list look for some of these ingredients which will help lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling and looking good.
Glycerin, Aloe, Vitamin E, ceramides, meadowfoam seed oil, blue green algae extract. A combination of these and other popular ingredients will help keep your skin hydrated giving it an energized healthier fresh look.
A good moisturizer provides a layer of protection. One of the best all-natural non-irritating ingredients is jojoba oil. Jojoba helps protect your skin against water loss hence retaining moisture in your skin and preventing dryness. It's also non-comedogenic meaning it won't clog your pores!
Another all-natural ingredient in helping prevent premature skin aging is aloe vera. Aloe is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that helps rejuvenate your skin. It's rich in vitamins A, C, E, B, Choline, B12 and folic acid which bring a ton of benefits to your skin.
When looking for a solid moisturizer keep the above points in mind and use a light weight moisturizer that absorbs quickly. Men have naturally thicker skin so avoid the heavier creams and lotions.
For the best results make sure to use twice daily: once in the morning after you wash up and once before bed.
So keep an eye out the next time you are shopping for a moisturizer.
There are great brands out there so seek the ones that deserve your trust and test a few to see which works best with you.
In our next skincare post we'll talk about how to integrate a simple face cleanser!
Again, there are levels to this, so stay tuned for more if you want to upgrade your skincare game.
